Thanks to all of the players who participated in the 2018 Men’s MAPTA Super C tournament. This was the largest draw for the event since its inception in 2015.
There were 32 teams in the draw this year and it only seems to be growing as there were a few teams on the waitlist as well. There was a great balance of competition on the courts and comradery in the hut!
The weather was great for much of the day, but the rain would not hold off for the semis or finals. The dynamic duo of Franny Radano and Jake Maddaloni played patiently and sprinkled in sneaky offense knocking of the #7 and #1 seeds on their run to the semifinals where they played fellow Aronimink members Whit Beverly and Bryan Quinn in a tough three setter!
The other semifinal included John Grove and Jack Appicciafuoco ……yeah, I just tried to spell that….ousting Rich Craft and Andrew Hanson. Beverly and Quinn prevailed and made it to the finals where they ran into the righty-lefty combo of Grove and App and slashing their overheads to victory!
Winners: John Grove and Jack Appicciafuoco
Finalists: Whit Beverly and Bryan Quinn
